"Hello, suckers! Welcome back!" ::giggles:: I love Chicago! Anyway, sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but there really hasn't been anything to post about. My summer break is winding down, which is good. I'm actually a teensy bit excited about heading back to work. The only problem is that there will be no more regular hanging out with friends once it starts up. That has been one constant thing this summer--every Friday or Saturday I've gotten together with Rin and some of our friends to hang out and RP together, which has been a blast. I've met some new people, reconnected with some others that sort of "pop" in and out of my life, and I've learned what it's like to do an RPG. I'm involved in two, though I only have had a chance to really play one of them. I've been regularly playing a Star Wars RPG, which has been interesting, but for the first few weeks I felt so inept in my character, Tionne. She's somewhat like me--artsy, has a deep appreciation for music and storytelling. But she's from Luke's Academy (and in our RPG, Luke is seen for the inept creature that he really is, so it's sort of an insult to be connected to Luke. lol), so she and her fellow classmate, Soichiro (Rin's character, who is a somewhat anti-establishment hacker dude who is a bit impulsive and had a quick temper, but that's somewhat mellowing out), have joined this other team of Jedi (and nonJedi), which has been pretty interesting. I admit, Tionne is a classic Luke-student--she's a prep (which I guess sort of makes me one, since she's a lot like me), but thank goodness she's not the typical type. She's just more quiet than most.
The second RPG that I'm in, which I really haven't had a chance to play because my character sheet wasn't completed (but should be now), is one based on the anime/manga series Naruto. Basically, this is like, "Naruto all grown up, and now we're following the misadventures of the group's kids"; we have the kid of Naruto and Hinata (it may seem like an unlikely pair, but I think they're cute together!), the kid of Iruka (another of Rin's characters, named Hoshi), and some others. Mine is, of course, Amane Mizu--she's a few years younger than the rest (heehee, I unknowingly created a child prodigy!), she's a medical nin (meaning that she uses jutsu--or techniques--that aid in the healing of others), and she has the ability to create the illusion of a change in the weather, or actually change the weather (I figure the illusion jutsu would probably work really well with simple-minded folk). She originally came from the Water Village; when her mother died and Amane decided she didn't want to be a part of a village whose beliefs were not her own, Amane moved the the Village of the Hidden Leaf and decided to train to be their ninja. No one knows who her father is, except for her. She's normally quiet and shy (hmm, sound like another character of mine?), and she enjoys reading, music, and meditating. She has an extreme aversion to Itchi Itchi Paradise, has an astigmatism in her left eye--and yet refuses to wear glasses--and for some reason doesn't really like Kakashi.
